FREE Magazines (and what to do with them!)
Watching for free magazine deals is just another one of the ways I save money while still enjoying luxuries, like magazines! There are LOTS of free magazine subscriptions available and many more highly discounted subscriptions if you keep your eyes out. I almost never pay full price for a magazine subscription.
Recently saw a FREE one year subscription to the Weight Watchers magazine and was so excited to sign up for it because I had been thinking about actually paying for the subscription after checking out a copy at my weekly WW meeting. Signing up for the free subscription saved me $20 bucks!! Woohoo!
Want to know another little secret? While I love getting free magazines, I HATE excess clutter, so after I’m finished looking at the magazines, (and after I have of course scoured them for coupons!!) I get rid of them! Here are a few things I do:
- Cut out my name and address, and then take them to the library where there is a FREE box. They never last long, and other people get to enjoy the magazines as well. I’ve taken from this box quite a few times too!! Many of the places we’ve lived have these boxes at the library. I often find coupon inserts in there too!! If your local library doesn’t have a FREE box, maybe ask about starting one!
- Donate to a doctor/dentist’s office or hospital waiting room (with permission).
- Leave them at the laundromat for others to enjoy while their clothes wash/dry
. - Pass them on to friends who don’t get the subscription.
- Let my kids cut out pictures while I am clipping coupons. It keeps them busy, gives them practice using scissors, and helps them feel like they are participating in what I am doing.
- With the above pictures they cut (sometimes I help cut too), we make collages. My kids LOVE gluing.
- Cut out large letters from the article titles and ads, and then we build words, write collage-cut “letters” to grandmas, practice spelling words, etc. SOOO many fun ideas here.
Here are some FREE magazines I just signed up for:
FREE year’s subscription to Baby Talk

FREE six month subscription to American Baby magazine
FREE 2 year subscription to Lego Club Magazine and Lego Club Magazine Jr. (my son is THRILLED!) (Thanks, Freebies4moms!)

Great list–magazines are great for crafting!! My problem is finding somewhere to store them!

The “free box” from our library is always full of great magazines and here’s what I do when I’m finished with them. Send some in our monthly care package to our adopted soldier in Iraq (www.adoptaplatoon.com). Kid friendly magazines (Family Fun, etc.) are donated to the school for crafts. Everything else is put in the schools fundraiser paper recycle bins.
Thanks for the iinspiration
