Weekend Away

Last week my good friend Aja and I left our kids with our husbands and spent three days and two nights in Cincinnati. It was an AMAZING couple of days and I’m ashamed to say I didn’t take any pictures. Not one. How’s that for failing on my scrapbooking duties?!!

Our main reason for going was to attend the Midwest Homeschool Convention. We spent the majority of our time attending workshops, shopping for curriculum, and talking with other homeschooling parents. At the end of the convention we were exhausted, inspired, and re-committed. And while I’ve continued to be a bit hesitant on this whole homeschooling thing, I this weekend helped me gain a strong conviction that it is the right decision for our family for now. Talk to me again in a year or two.

One of the days we took a lunch break from the convention and went over to IKEA. What a blissfully fun place. Our lunch turned into six hours and four carts worth of stuff. Yes, for the two of us. But in all fairness our husbands did know we were going, and we had been saving up for the trip :) . I bought a bunch of organization stuff and hope to start purging and get my house in order and clutter-free. Oh, and finally unpack all those boxes sitting in the closets and laundry room. It’s a bit embarrassing that we moved here nine months ago and have not finished unpacking. Tells me we have way too much stuff!!

Anyway, so now it’s Thursday, and I’m just getting around to posting. Yes, it’s taken me that long to get caught up. If you haven’t already checked it out, would you pop on over to Little Dreamer Designs and take a peek at round one of the Apprentice Program? Comments and views are taken into consideration as part of the judging process, so I’m definitely appreciative of any support I can get. Oh, and you may want to download this FREEBIE while you’re at it ;) .

I also have this coordinating mini as part of my guest stay at The LilyPad and you can still use the 20% off coupon found here.

Well done on the Little Dreamer Apprentice! Your mini kit is so cute. Good luck with the home schooling. My SIL did that and her kids are the brightest most well adjusted kids I know. Except for my own of course. LOL.
