A Weekend Treasure Hunt

When we woke up on Saturday morning without a plan, my husband rolled over with a kiss and said, “Let’s go thrifting today!”

Gosh, have I mentioned how much I love this man?!

Thought Bubble

Thrift store shopping is such an adventure for me and I’ll admit, I get slightly giddy about it. And yard sale season is one of my favorites :) . I know, crazy as it sounds, I’d choose thrift shopping ANY DAY over the mall. Ahem.

{Anyone still reading?}

Let me state I’m pretty picky about what I buy at thrift stores, and I’m definitely no where near hoarding state. I have the sense to look at something, know I would never pay full price for it, and then pass it up. But I also have the sense to spot buried treasure in the rough–which is why thrifting is such a thrill for me.

I’m usually on the search for cool, vintage-y, ready-to-be-made-over decor items, but the latest trip was mostly a success in the clothing department. Awesome, considering these darn kids keep disobeying me when I tell them to stop growing! ;)

    I love thrift store shopping! I have a couple favorite shops in the area – but there are also 2 that I need to visit that I have not had the chance to go into yet. A lot of my friends tell me they are the “best” around! :o )
    I love this post! Mind if I use it as inspiration after one of my thrifty sprees?

    Love it. And I hope you remember that I am the one that taught that man that shopping was fun. (At least I helped.) One time your older brother-in-law bought a red and white knit shirt at the second-hand store and all 4 kids wore it proudly at different times. In fact, I think your hubby wore it for a couple of his Senior pictures! Now that was a find!

    I LOVE the thrift stores!
    When I was a teenager, my parents gave each of us kids $100 to buy new school clothes.
    My sis would go buy one pair of new name-brand jeans and one or two shirts…. I’d go to the local thrifts stores and get 4 or 5 pairs of pants, tons of shirts, a few dresses/skirts and even some shoes! She’d borrow my stuff later in the year!
    ;)

    Now as a mommy to 5 kids… I always check the thrift store before going shopping for my kids clothing. I NEVER buy coats/jackets from ‘real’ stores… TOO expensive!
    (BUT… my hubby has always worked at a big chain retails store, so we get killer discounts and always know when clearance will be marked so I do get a lot of their clothes at this store cause it is almost as cheap (if not cheaper) than buying from a thrift store.

    LOVE thrifting… but the stores around here don’t seem very good to me. :( can you think of/remember any great thrift stores in the area? I’m hoping they’ll be better in Summerlin :)

    Hmmm…I don’t really remember any now that I think about it! That should be our goal to scope them out if we do our girls getaway there! Although I doubt anyone else would be too excited about that. LOL
