Learn about one of our favorite ABC books and then make a paper-pieced “M is for Mountain” craft project with the printable template below.
As I write this post I am just finishing a preschool mountain exploration with Addy and Ammon — my 5th and 6th kiddos. I LOVE teaching my kids at this age! I also (usually! haha) love raising a big family and having the opportunity to give my kids a foundation in literacy before they start school. I’m not gonna sugar coat it though — sometimes I get tired of teaching the same things over and over.
It’s one of the main reasons I started this blog — as a way to push me to come up with creative ways to “do” everyday life and learning, in a way that I could stay excited about. And in a way that would give each of my kids creative learning experiences. And hopefully YOU will get some inspiration and tips as well!
I say all this as a preface and introduction to this ABC book. I have read A LOT of alphabet books over the years. There are soooo many out there! I’ve read so many alphabet books that I could probably predict what pictures will be on each letter’s page. Alphabet books are . . . well, kind of boring.
But this alphabet book is one I’m currently loving because the colorful, whimsical illustrations keep my attention. And since I’m loving it, it’s fun to read with my preschoolers — which means THEY love it too.
The “M” page is what inspired this mountain craft project. I love the way the “magnificent mountains” look a little like an”M.” And so “M is for Mountains” became a big part of our preschool mountain exploration.
