Whether taking a trip to the beach, reading about the river, or any other time(!) paint or color, cut, and assemble this fun fish craft template for a unique underwater creation and adorable art project worthy of a bulletin-board or fridge-hanging display.
Create-a-Fish Craft Printable Template
Supplies Needed:
- Create-a-Fish Printable Craft Template
- white paper or card stock
- crayons/markers/paint/paint sticks
- scissors
- glue
- black marker
- (optional) colored card stock, patterned paper, painted paper or watercolor resist painted paper
Download and Print the Create-a-Fish Craft Template
Download the fish craft template and print on white paper or card stock. We prefer card stock as it makes the craft sturdier, especially when using markers or paint.
Color or Paint the Fish Craft Template
Color or paint the fish craft template pieces. My kids love any excuse to get out the paint, but crayons or markers work great too! One of my favorite art supplies to use is paint sticks. They produce a vibrant color like paint, but are applied by coloring like a crayon.
Cut & Assemble the Fish Pieces
Cut around each template piece and assemble the fish with glue. This project doesn’t have a right or wrong way, so have some fun creating a unique fish!
Embellish and Mount on Card Stock
If desired, add marker details.
Mount your fish on a piece of colored card stock, patterned paper, painted paper or a watercolor resist “water” background then display!
This fish was painted with watercolor paints, and mounted to a watercolor resist background.
Underwater Felt Board Fun
This fish template also works well as a pattern for creating kid-approved felt board manipulatives. Such a fun way to keep the kiddos creatively and constructively busy!
Lay the pattern on top of felt pieces, cut around each piece.
Then let kids use the different pieces to design their own unique fish. Or, you could assemble for a completed project. Hot glue or fabric craft glue are my typical go-tos when constructing flannel board pieces.
