Since moving from the Mid-west to the Pacific Northwest our family has been pretty excited about visiting the beach. Once the weather got warm enough we planned the day-trip and my preschoolers started counting down the days. Literally — they’d tell random people (like in the grocery store line), “we’re going to the beach in 12 days!” haha
At the preschool age, I’m all about interest-led learning, so I capitalized on their enthusiasm! We pulled out all the beach books, made sandcastle crafts, practiced math skills with seashells, built with sandy play dough, and more! And these Beach Sand Pudding Cups made a fun beach-themed snack.
The beach snack is so simple it can hardly be called a “recipe.” And pre-made pudding cups make it extra convenient, but you could whip up a bowl of instant pudding and spoon it into cups almost as quickly. Spread out a beach towel and enjoy Beach Sand Pudding Cups during your next beach-themed storytime! So fun.
INGREDIENTS FOR BEACH SAND PUDDING CUPS:
- light-colored instant pudding or pudding cups (vanilla, tapioca, butterscotch, etc.)
- light brown cookie crumbs (such as Vanilla Wafers, Golden Oreos, Graham Crackers, etc.)
- paper drink umbrellas (optional)
DIRECTIONS FOR BEACH SAND PUDDING CUPS:
Place cookies in a a Ziploc bag and crush into crumbs by hand or with a rolling pin. Kids love this part!
Sprinkle cookie crumb “sand” on top of pudding.
Decorate with a paper drink umbrella, if desired! Spread out a beach towel, and enjoy a summery snack!
