The Bible Creation Story for Kids

by pameladonnis

In the beginning, even before Adam and Eve, God made the world!! Interactively teach the Bible Creation story to kids in a fun way they’ll engage with and remember.

Why I Created these Creation Story Printables

Once upon a time I was preparing a Bible story lesson for my young kids and recalled my own childhood memories of stories and songs I’d learned on an interactive flannel board.

Remembering these childhood learning experiences led me on search for flannel board stories I could use in teaching my own children. But flannel board stories were old-school and hard to find. And when I finally did find some, they were dull and outdated. I knew if I was bored with the images, my kids would be too.

They say invention often comes from necessity, and soon I began to spend my babies’ naptimes with a stack of felt and pair of scissors–experimenting with shapes, and creating my own flannel board pieces.

The Bible Creation Story for Kids

Those flannel board characters are now available as digital/printable files to make them much easier to share! And since “the beginning,” this Bible Creation Story set has been one of the most downloaded files on Keeping Life Creative!

Use the Bible Story visual aids as tools when teaching kids the scripture stories! My own teaching experience (as well as the success stories shared by of thousands of mom and teachers) has shown these storytelling images can attract and hold kids’s attention during the Bible story lesson, help make the abstract concepts more concrete, enhance learning comprehension (just ask them to retell the story to you!), and more.

When you sign up for our e-mail list, a link to download these interactive Bible Creation story printables will be delivered to your inbox so you can try them too!

More Bible Story Creation Activities for Kids

And after you sign up for the e-mail list, here are some additional Bible story Creation activities for kids that are included in the download:

Kid-friendly Bible Story Suggestions

Reading directly from the Bible can be intimidating and hard for young kids to understand. In the beginning I prefer to use a Bible storybook or picture reader to help them learn the stories. As they learn the Bible at their level, the principles and application of scripture will eventually come line upon line, as the stories come alive.

Mamas and teachers are always asking for my Bible reader recommendations, and I have a few suggestions!

Days of Creation Matching Game

Print, laminate, and cut out the Bible Creation story cards. Then have fun matching the numbers to the coordinating image(s) representing the events of each day of creation.

Creation Story Petal Book Foldable

Cut along the solid lines and fold along the dotted lines. Then illustrate or write on the outside of each flap to show what happened on each day of creation.

Bible Creation Story Coloring Page

Coloring and drawing is important for kids because it helps develop and exercise the hand muscles and fine motor skills that are needed for handwriting. But coloring isn’t just for preschoolers! Coloring has a de-stressing power that generates quietness and stimulates creativity and can be a good practice for ALL ages. Often, (especially when I feel like my kids need a screen detox!) I print out detailed coloring pages to work on while we listen to a book.

This Creation coloring page helps keep hands busy and minds quiet and is a great project when listening to a read aloud of the Creation from the Bible account or a longer storybook version.

The page comes in two versions, a simpler version, and the “Zentangle” patterned version!

You don’t sell felt sets by any chance, do you?

Currently I’m selling them as printables. In the past I’ve sold the actual felt pieces on Etsy, but don’t have any for sale at the moment.
You can see the sets I have here: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Keeping-Life-Creative

I just have to thank you once again for sharing your creative talents and providing these Bible resources free of charge. I’m using your creation printables this week in my prekindergarten classroom. They are such a blessing to use during Jesus time. (I print mine right on milk filters, and they are ready to use on the felt board.) Thanks again!

      Beth,
Thank you for the kind feedback! It makes my day and encourages me to keep creating.
I haven’t tried printing on milk filers, but have heard many people say this. Will have to try it out!
      xoxo

Oh my goodness! Can you say addicted? We LOVE these graphics. As a matter of fact, I have been perusing the web today for graphics as cute as yours and I have not been very successful. I love graphics. I have quite a collection, but I am looking for scripture stories to keep my little ones busy during church. We (my 7 yr old daughter) and I cannot wait to see what else you come up with for graphics. I would even be willing to pay a little money for your wonderful creations! Noah and the Ark would be easy. You already have some animals designed. You just need Noah and the ark!

Hello! I am soooo glad to find your wonderful felt/flannel board sets. Our son is on a mission in San Antonio, TX and he and his companion are teaching two little 9 year old girls. He wrote to me and asked if there is any way that I could help him think of some “object lessons” so that they can be more effective as teachers. I came across your Adam and Eve set and your Creation set. These will be PERFECT to start them out teaching these two young girls. I will continue to look for more felt object lessons to make and send his way. He will be sooo thankful for your talent and my willingness to lend a hand.

Thanks once again, from a very grateful Missionary and his mom 🙂

These are sooo cute! I’d like to create real felt versions….any chance you’d be willing to give tips on how you do it? I mean I know the basic idea of cutting, etc. but do you use a glue gun, etc?
