‘Tis the season and our family has been talking a lot about gratitude. Many family lessons and dinner conversations have been on saying thank you and noticing the blessings we have. I admit, it means a lot to hear my five-year-old thank me for dinner instead of complaining about what I made.
During one of our discussions on thankfulness we made a gratitude garland.
Here’s how:
1. Cut out various leaf shapes from felt. (If freehand cutting makes you nervous, print some simple leaf clip art and use it as a pattern.) Patterned paper, kraft paper, construction paper, etc. would work too!
2. Write things you are thankful for on slips of paper. We went around the room and each of us had several turns. We came up with things like job, family, and home, but laughter, blowing bubbles, and story books were also mentioned.
3. Place a paper strip on a leaf and run through sewing machine.
4. Keep going, leaving a short distance between each leaf.
5. Keep going, and going and going…
6. Until you have the length you want.
6. Hang for all to enjoy. (Yes, I know it’s crooked, and I’ve decided I really don’t care. LOL)

Hey Pam! What a wonderful blog you got going here! Your garland is awesome! I saw this last minute and didnt have time to make a fancy one. BUT we are making paper chains to hang above our table, and on them writing the things we are grateful for. Thanks for this idea.:) Happy Thanksgiving!!

Adoration! I love it! And I love those owls. Can I ask where you got them??

@Rachel Young, Thanks *blush*. The owls–everyone asks. They were actually an amazing $3 flea market find. Sorry, that’s definitely not what you were hoping for. LOL
